Cyanotype workshop
Ecomuseo della Pastorizia, Pontebernardo, August 2023. In collaboration with Juan Couder. DISCOVER THE HIDDEN SECRETS OF PLANTS THROUGH THE MAGIC OF THE CYANOTYPE TECHNIQUE
Last summer together with the artist and photographer Juan Garcia Couder we held a cyanotype workshop in a little village of the western Italian Alps, Pontebernardo.
The cyanotype is an ancient photographic printing method characterized by the typical Prussian Blue color, which reacts on contact with uv rays. After the exposure at the sunlight, the paper is developed by washing in simple cold water.
A process as simple as stunning!
As much when it comes to children as it does to elders.
During the workshop, together with the participants, we discovered the magical revelation of this very primordial blue prints. And the very hidden details of the plants chosen. Both kids and adults were very amazed by the revelation of the photo on the paper.
The workshop was part of the Botanical Day, organised by the Cooperativa il Germinale, and it was divided in three main activity: in the morning, an ethnobotanical walk with the Dr. Noemi Bottasso, followed by a botanical lunch at the Locanda la Pecora Nera, the restaurant of the village, and last but not least the Cyanotype workshop with the plants collected during the morning walk.
